Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what data WhereIsBest ("WIB," "we," "us") collects from users of whereisbest.app, how we use it, and how we protect it. It applies to all users — including those who browse without an account and those with WIB Plus subscriptions.

We designed WIB to collect as little data as possible. We collect what we need to deliver the service and nothing more.

If you browse without an account

• —Standard server logs: IP address, browser type, pages visited, referral source. Retained for 30 days, then deleted.
• —Analytics data via Google Analytics 4 (GA4): aggregated usage patterns. See Section 5 for more on third parties.

If you leave your email (Notify Me)

• —Email address.
• —The vertical and city you searched for.
• —Timestamp of the request.
• —We use this only to notify you when a pick becomes available for that specific vertical and city. Nothing else.

If you have a WIB Plus account

• —Email address.
• —Your saved picks (vertical, city, business name, date saved).
• —Subscription status and billing period (payment details are held by Stripe — see Section 5).
• —Email engagement data: whether you opened or clicked alert emails, for the sole purpose of ensuring deliverability.

• —To send you pick alerts and status updates for your saved items (Plus subscribers only).
• —To notify you when a pick becomes available for a vertical you've requested (Notify Me).
• —To process your Plus subscription (via Stripe).
• —To understand how the product is used in aggregate and improve it (via GA4).
• —To comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your data for advertising targeting, profile building, or any purpose beyond delivering the service you signed up for.

• —We do not sell your email address or any personal data to third parties.
• —We do not share your data with businesses listed on WIB.
• —We do not send newsletters, promotional emails, or any unsolicited communication.
• —We do not build advertising profiles or share data with ad networks.
• —We do not use your data to influence recommendations. The Best Score™ system is independent of user data.

Stripe (payment processing)

WIB Plus payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. Stripe collects and stores your payment card information directly — WIB never sees or stores your card details. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.

Resend (email delivery)

Alert emails and notifications are sent through Resend. We share your email address and the content of alerts with Resend solely for delivery purposes. Resend's privacy policy is available at resend.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Google Analytics 4 (usage analytics)

We use GA4 to understand how WIB is used — pages visited, search patterns, conversion events. This data is aggregated and anonymized. GA4 uses cookies. You can opt out of GA4 tracking using Google's opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Vercel (hosting) and Supabase (database)

Our service runs on Vercel infrastructure and our database is hosted on Supabase. Both services process data in accordance with their respective privacy policies and security standards.

WIB uses a limited number of cookies:

• —Session cookies: required for the service to function. Deleted when you close your browser.
• —Authentication cookies: used to keep you logged in to your Plus account.
• —Analytics cookies (GA4): track usage patterns. You can opt out as described in Section 5.

We do not use advertising cookies or sell cookie data to third parties.

• —Notify Me emails: retained until a pick is published for that vertical + city, then deleted within 30 days of the notification being sent.
• —Plus account data: retained while your subscription is active. Upon cancellation, your account data is deleted within 90 days.
• —Server logs: 30 days.
• —Anonymized analytics: retained indefinitely in aggregate form.

You have the right to:

• —Request a copy of the personal data WIB holds about you.
• —Request deletion of your personal data.
• —Unsubscribe from any email communication at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send.

WIB complies with the Florida Information Protection Act (FIPA). In the event of a data breach affecting Florida residents, we will notify affected users within 30 days as required by law. We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure.

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify Plus subscribers by email. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
